Dear Mr O’Gorman
Thank you for your recent enquiry in which you asked:
” could you tell me and our action group when permission was given to
start bamboo housing and when they were given the right to use council
houses or as you call them social houses when there is a waiting list of
over 14000 for 3bed houses –the covent was that magenta should ask the
residents by ballot for all major changes have not received any about
this —if they have broken law step in right away please as you know it
is labour party policy to build council houses.”
For clarity, in terms of the housing register, I can advise you that as of
31st March 2018 there were a total of 8,939 households registered with
Property Pool Plus (Wirral Choice Based Lettings database). Of those 8,939
households 2,163 (24%) have been assessed as in housing need. 242 of
those households registered with an assessed housing need are in need of a
three bedroom home.
In terms of the covenants in place at the time of stock transfer to Wirral
Partnership Homes (trading as Magenta Living), I have attached for your
information / consideration, a document which provides the comprehensive
detail of all covenants placed on the properties included at the time of
stock transfer, so that you can understand what these where. There are no
covenants that restrict the letting of properties for private rent in this
agreement which was agreed over 13 years ago.
Again for clarity, Bamboo Lettings is an organisation set up by Wirral
based Magenta Living and Torus, not Wirral Council. Bamboo Lettings is
taking a range of homes owned by both Magenta and Torus and marketing
these for private rent.
I have also included for your information the web link to Bamboo Lettings:
http://www.bamboolettings.com/. This web link has the contact details
for Bamboo Lettings where you can raise any specific queries or questions
you may have directly with them.
We trust this information is of interest to you.
